Thanks for visiting THE BIG FARM and THE BIG FARM Creamery.

Winter will be settling in around us here soon. The ewes are all pregnant, the cow is pregnant. There is enough snow on the ground that the animals don't go out much. They will stand just outside the entrances to the barn and look out, at the bare trees, the snow and ice, the sheltering sky.

In the creamery, cheesemaking continues unabated. Graviera is our new favorite cheese here at THE BIG FARM. Second to feta in popularity in Greece, it is a slightly sweet, semi-hard cheese which is great for snacking, but also melts and flavors nicely in cooking.

One of my projects for the winter is to get the online farmstand back up and running. In the meantime, enjoy some stories from THE BIG FARM on our Local Flavor page, and best wishes to you for the holidays and the new year.
